Google Summer of Code: 2010

Important Note: jMonkeyEngine will not be participating in GSoC 2010. This page and its related GSoC pages are kept for reference.

The jMonkeyEngine project will be applying for GSoC participation this year! Please show your support by:

  1. Add and discuss new ideas on the dedicated board (don't add your idea to this page until it has been discussed!)
  2. Review and elaborate on existing topics in the ideas list (add dependencies, references, any useful data)
  3. Express your interest! Google won't support a dead project…

What is GSoC?

The answer to that question and many more can be found on Google's own GSoC FAQ
Be sure to also get affiliated with the timeline

Why is JME Participating?

For a great number of reasons:

  • Excellent code contributions
  • Many new affiliates and prospective team members
  • A lot of online publicity
  • Affirming ourselves as a 'solid state', very much alive project
  • Standing out amongst open source engines.
  • More activity in general

How do I apply?

We have not yet been accepted Student applications have not yet opened. More information like student development guidelines will be provided when due.

Who will be mentoring?

We have enlisted Kirill 'Momoko_Fan' Vainer and Normen Hansen as mentors.

Who will be acting administrators?

Erlend 'erlend_sh' S. Heggen will be the head administrator of the GSoC activities. Skye 'sbook' Book is signed up as 'backup admin'. Taking advantage of our differing timezones and skill sets we will try to cover the widest ground possible when it comes to inquiries and prompt response times.
