Hey, Smiley
Is there a small rectangular "Powered by jME"-icon?
I mentioned jME already in the credits of Grappling Hook, but I also would like to add a small icon.

I don't know of one, but that would be fun little exercise for those artists among us.

I used the Jme Monkey head icon a while back to make up such an image. Doubt the sound with the accompanying video is free to use though (made it just for laughs).

A logo would be better than a video.

Perhaps something similar to the intel inside logo?

Rectengular, good to recognize (even when it is small), professional and not cheesy look ...

Perhaps I should elaborate, the zip contains an image and a fun little video (a la demo of its intended use) of it with monkey sounds Cheesy. Reminds me of the opening credits to some of the monkey island games Wink

As for a logo...don't we technically already have one? The monkey face? (which is what the image in the zip is, but on a convenient black background + with "powered by jmonkeyengine")

I don't plan to show the monkeyhead on the whole screen.
And I think the name "jMonkeyEngine" should be always part of the logo, because the engine is not so famous, that everyone will associate the monkeyhead with the engine.

The vid is... hm.. i dunno... funny.
The monkeysounds are a bit too long in my opinion.

I'll take my hand at making one...  anyone know what the font is called for the site's header graphic?  I'm not so sure something that heavy would translate well to a small icon, but it's worth a shot

a nice logo would be cool, i'm sure there are a few artists here who can make a nice logo which fits the jme website style.

Here's a start, based highly on the website's header, which I, myself, see as the "tone" of the site..  Now if only I could find that font  rolleyes

What phrase would we want in there?  (Sorry I'm not writing my "A" material :p)
  • "jME Inside"
  • "Powered by jMonkeyEngine"
  • "Runs on Banana Peels"

I vote for "Powered by jMonkeyEngine".
Black border with round edges would be nice probably.
And some line which seperates the head and text, so they don't have to share the same background.

I think we should look first at some other great logos and use them as inspiration:

Oh dude, that.., is.., brilliant! I love it. 'Ars gratia artis' means art for art's sake. Would be just awesome if we could come up with a java/code version of that. Feel free to try for the English one first, then we'll have a knack at the latin translation ^^ There might be a few around with some basic education in it, I sure would have had it if the opportunity was there...

Keep in mind the difference between the 'launcher opening screen' (e.g. Nvidia's fancy sound and particles) and the simple 'powered by' button at the bottom of a page, examples for which include Joomla, Drupal and Java.
